INTERPRETATION OF LIVER IRON QUANTIFICATION

Normal: < 4 mg Fe / grams dry liver weight

Mild hepatic iron burden: 4 - 7 mg Fe / grams dry liver weight

Moderate hepatic iron burden: 7 - 10 mg Fe / grams dry liver weight

Severe hepatic iron burden: >10 mg Fe / grams dry liver weight
